The Joy of Sets

The Joy of Sets is a workshop devised and lead by Nicholas Mortimer and Joseph Popper. It provides students with a chance to get creative and explore a rapid prototyping approach to realising ideas hands-on at full scale.

Students are challenged to respond to simple contexts and narrative starting points, and then move quickly to create immersive 1:1 scale environments. This has been successfully implemented as part of existing course projects or as a standalone workshop that explores the cinematic staging of fictional narratives.

By offering a chance to think-through-making, The Joy of Sets celebrates and educates a hands-on approach to making things and exploring how to create atmospheres, aesthetics and environments.
